Win a Bundle of Classic BBC Dramas on DVD
A slew of classic BBC dramas: The Missing Postman, The Children of Green Knowe and Stalky & Co. make their UK DVD debut on 28 March 2016 courtesy of Simply Media.
THE MISSING POSTMAN
Forced to take early retirement, postman Clive Peacock (James Bolam – Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?) takes a spur of the moment decision to deliver his last mail collection by hand. Mounting his trusty bicycle, he sets off on an adventure all around Britain, delivering each letter personally. Pursued by the police and glorified by the media, he becomes both a fugitive and a reluctant hero.
Produced by Golden Globe and triple BAFTA winner Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey), The Missing Postman is a hilarious but poignant two-part mini-series that also stars Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Alison Steadman (Gavin and Stacey), Larry Lamb (Eastenders) and renowned singer Barbara Dickinson.
THE CHILDREN OF GREEN KNOWE
When his father and stepmother leave the country for Christmas, young Toseland (Alec Christie – The Office) is doomed to spend the holidays at his boarding school, until his eccentric great-grandmother, Mrs. Oldknow (Daphne Oxenford – Coronation Street), invites him to stay with her at The Green Knowe estate, an 11th century house built by Normans. While she tells him stories of his ancestors, Toseland soon finds out not everything is what it seems, when he begins to see the spirits of children who lived in the house during the reign of Charles II. Originally screened in 1986 but never released on DVD, The Children of Green Knowe is a charming and mystical classic children’s mini-series adapted from Lucy M. Boston’s novels.

STALKY AND CO.
Based on the novel written by the legendary Nobel Prize winner Rudyard Kipling, Stalky & Co. is a six-part BBC drama series.
Following Kipling’s own experiences as a boy, the series is a coming of age tale of three roguish boys Stalky (Robert Addie – Robin Hood), M’Turk (Robert Burbage – Mansfield Park) and Beetle (David Parfitt - Shakespeare in Love), at a Victorian English public school. Bursting with revenge, bullying, violence and with a seemingly unending supply of practical jokes to frustrate their long-suffering schoolmasters, will the three pranksters eventually find their match?
This fun and entertaining drama from 1982 is produced by Daytime Emmy winner and BAFTA nominee Barry Letts (Doctor Who) and directed by Rodney Bennett (Z Cars).
