Bad Sister, Back to God’s Country, Bengal Brigade on DVD

Starring Hollywood legends Rock Hudson, Humphrey Bogart and Bette Davis, three classic features from the Universal Pictures/Hollywood Classics stable come to DVD for the very first time in the UK. Back to God’s Country, Bengal Brigade and Bad Sister are all released on 18 April 2016 courtesy of Simply Media.

Back to God’s Country
The inimitable Rock Hudson (Giant) stars in this action-packed drama from 1953 based on a story by respected adventure writer James Oliver Curwood.
Helmed by Star Trek director Joseph Pevney, Back to God’s Country is set in a small village in the icy wilderness of Alaska, where schooner captain Peter Keith (Hudson) and his wife, Dolores (Marcia Henderson – All I Desire), prepare to set sail with their precious cargo of furs. When a ruthless businessman, Paul Blake (Steve Cochran – White Heat) and his associate Frank Hudson (Hugh O’Brian - Twins) conspire to keep Keith’s boat in dock until the weather becomes too foreboding to leave, Peter and Dolores must embark on a desperate expedition to escape the isolated region.

Bengal Brigade (1954)
American action adventure set in British ruled India in 1857, at the outbreak of the Indian mutiny. Rock Hudson stars as Captain Claybourne – a British officer who is dismissed from his regiment over a charge of disobeying orders. But as he goes about restoring his reputation, Claybourne soon finds that his duty to his men is far from over. This thrilling war time drama from 1954 is directed by Golden Globe winner Laslo Benedek (Death of a Salesman) and stars Dan O’Herlihy (Robinson Crusoe) alongside three Star Trek icons Arnold Moss, Torin Thatcher and Michael Ansara.

Bad Sister
Hollywood icon and two-time Oscar winner Bette Davis (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?), features in her first ever film role in this thrilling family saga, Bad Sister (1931). Naive Marianne Madison (Sidney FoxMidnight) is bored with her routine life and falls for dashing con artist Valentine Corliss (Humphrey Bogart - Casablanca), who uses their relationship to get her father’s endorsement on a money-raising scheme. Following their wedding night in a sleazy hotel, Valentine abandons Marianne and she returns home to beg forgiveness from her jilted fiancé Dick Lindley (Conrad Nagel - All That Heaven Allows), only to find he has turned his attention to her shy younger sister Laura (Davis).
