The timeless fairy-tale Cinderella is given a stylish update set against the glamorous backdrop of ‘La Dolce Vita’ in an enchanting mini-series, which comes to DVD on 17 August 2015 courtesy of Odyssey.
Basking in the glamorous world of Cinecittà, life couldn’t seem more perfect for the beautiful Aurora (Vanessa Hessler - Asterix at the Olympic Games), a gifted young pianist whose life seems full of promise as she grows up in post-War Rome and falls madly in love with Sebastian, the handsome, wealthy boy next door (Flavio Parenti - To Rome With Love).
But Aurora’s life changes dramatically when her beloved father dies and her wicked stepmother Irene (Natalia Wörner - The Pillars of the Earth) turns the family villa into a hotel and forces Aurora to work as a maid and lose contact with Sebastian, while swindling her out of her inheritance. Enter Mrs Laura Cooper (Ruth-Maria Kubitschek - Frau Ella), a mysterious American who checks into the hotel. She just happens to be none other than Aurora’s long-lost grandmother, and once she discovers Aurora’s true identify this feisty old lady vows to right past wrongs and ensure the path of true love runs smooth.
But at a fateful Masked Ball, Irene intervenes yet again to tear the young lovers apart. With Sebastian facing a marriage of convenience and Aurora an even more bleak and penniless future, will Aurora ever win back Sebastian’s heart – and find that elusive ‘happy ever after’?
Packed with magical moments and dramatic twists, the heart-warming and thrilling Cinderella (Cenerentola) is released on DVD on 17 August 2015.
