Win tickets for The Marriage of Figaro at London King’s Head Theatre
Olivier Award winning OperaUpClose follow their hugely successful La Boheme & La Traviata with Mozart’s joyous The Marriage of Figaro. Bursting with great tunes, laugh-out-loud comedy and powerful insights into what it is to be human, it's little wonder that The Marriage of Figaro is one of the world’s best-loved operas.
On the day they are due to be married, Susanna horrifies Figaro when she reveals that the unwanted attentions of Figaro’s master - the womanising Count - are becoming increasingly insistent. Further complications are caused when the Countess starts to notice highly-sexed teenager Cherubino's infatuation with her. Susanna and Figaro must work quickly to outwit their masters if this day of madness is to have a happy ending. Through quick thinking and subterfuge, this satirical romp becomes as joyful as it is subversive.
Directed by Sarah Tipple, who has revived Anthony Minghella's Madam Butterfly for ENO and delighted audiences with her hilarious Barbershopera productions, this new English version promises to be a highly inventive and theatrical new production.
