Win tickets to see Nana Mouskouri’s 80th Birthday Tour at London’s Royal Albert Hall
‘National Treasure’ is a much misused term….like legend and icon and superstar. But if there’s one person who deserves such accolades - and more - it’s Nana Mouskouri.
Nana Mouskouri is one of the Top Female vocalists of all time. She has literally sold hundreds of millions of records.
She records in eight languages, sings in 13, and has been performing since she was in her teens. She has sung with all the greats and she has won fans in every corner of the globe – even Bob Dylan wrote a song for her.
Now, to celebrate her 80th Birthday, she embarks on a year long tour that takes her across the globe. She will be accompanied on it by her four French musicians and her daughter Lénou who has had her own singing career in France since 2001.
Nana arrives in the UK in the Autumn to play the Royal Albert Hall on September 25th(020 7589 8212), seven years since she last played there. She also performs at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on September 29th(0141 353 8000) and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on September 30th(0844 907 9000). A special 22 track album, “Happy Birthday” is being released early September to coincide.
Tickets are on sale now direct from the venues and from ticketline.co.uk · 0844 888 9991 and ticketmaster.co.uk · 0844 847 1642. Prices for Glasgow and Manchester are £40 - £50 (+ booking fee); prices for London are £35 - £55 with box seats at £65 (+ booking fee). All shows start at 7.30pm.
But the tour isn’t just to celebrate her birthday, it is to pay homage to the composers and writers who have inspired her singing throughout the years. Many of these are featured on the new 22 track “Happy Birthday Tour” CD which is released early September to coincide with the dates.
With more than 350 million units sold worldwide, Nana Mouskouri’s recordings have outsold the Beatles and Elvis Presley combined. Nana has travelled the world as a UNICEF ambassador where she has made personal donations to help the lives of children in almost every country she has visited. She has also been a member of the European Parliament.
Possessing a breathtaking voice that has understandably captured her legions of fans, Nana reins still, an unassuming superstar. It has been a remarkable journey....and this is a show to be seen
