About the show
Two great plays by a master dramatist, each one a tense psychological study of love, marriage, sexuality, and the war of wills between men and women, exploring the intoxification that is love, and what it does to us all when caught in its grip.
A wife is tormented knowing her husband is sleeping with a younger woman, whom she confronts, determined to show she will be the stronger. Powerful and claustrophobic, The Stronger is the only play Strindberg wrote solely for women actors.
A man seeks peace and refuge in a remote house, when the woman he once loved walks back into his life. As old passions and angers rise again, the two seek some form of reconciliation and forgiveness, but is it possible after so much has passed between them, or will the storm break again?
Performed together for the first time in this country, The Stronger and Storm are a testament to the power of Strindberg’s writing. Love and hate, sex and jealousy do battle in an electrifying evening’s theatre.
